About Punta Gorda

Here are some resources for you to learn more about Punta Gorda – from it’s colorful history to its pleasant present!

Punta Gorda Historical Society
In 1983, a group of concerned citizens organized for the purpose of protecting and preserving the history of Punta Gorda for future generations. Since that time the Punta Gorda Historical Society has worked tirelessly to do just that. SW Florida Walking Tours is proud to donate a portion of the ticket sales from our Haunted History Walking Tour, Gardens of Punta Gorda Walking Tour and A Victorian Séance to Punta Gorda Historical Society. Your tour participation helps PGHS efforts, such as preserving and restoring the History Park buildings.

Charlotte County Historical Museum
Offering a variety of programs and services to educate the community about the rich history of the Charlotte County area while preserving and protecting the County’s historical resources for future public use.

Blanchard House Museum
The Blanchard House Museum, established in 2004, was the vision of Bernice Andrews Russell. Mrs. Russell was a humanitarian, social activist, and historian for the African American community. She felt it was important to document the history and contributions of African Americans in Charlotte County.

Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society
Established in 1994, the Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society (PGHMS) is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. With strong Community support the PGHMS has created 29 murals throughout our city.
